Drone Solar Panel Inspection
Identify underperforming strings, shattered modules, and failing bypass diodes at scale. Protect your energy yield with precision aerial thermography.
Manual IV-curve tracing and visual inspections of utility-scale solar farms are too slow, too expensive, and statistically incomplete. Drone solar panel inspection has become the industry standard for O&M providers because it allows for 100% radiometric thermal coverage of a site in a fraction of the time.
At Aerial Accuracy, we fly strict, automated grid patterns over PV arrays using high-resolution radiometric thermal sensors. We capture the exact temperature of every single cell, allowing our analysis engine to automatically classify defects according to IEC 62446-3 standards.
Hotspots & Cell Defects
Micro-cracks, delamination, and snail trails cause individual cells to consume power rather than produce it, turning that energy into localized heat. We map these hotspots to prevent backsheet melting and glass shattering.
Bypass Diode Failures
When a bypass diode fails, an entire sub-string (usually 1/3 of the panel) goes offline. In a thermal image, this appears as a distinct, rectangular thermal anomaly spanning the length of the module.
String Outages
Disconnected cables, blown fuses, or failed inverter inputs can take down entire rows of panels. A drone solar panel inspection instantly visualizes these dead strings, allowing technicians to plug them back in and restore MWs of lost capacity.
PID & Soiling
Potential Induced Degradation (PID) manifests as a checkerboard thermal pattern across the array. We also detect heavy dust, bird droppings, and vegetation shading that degrade overall system performance over time.
Stop Leaving MWs on the Table
Even a 2% energy loss on a 50 MW facility translates to tens of thousands of dollars in lost annual revenue. A comprehensive drone survey pays for itself by finding the "low hanging fruit" (like disconnected strings) while simultaneously building your warranty claim database against the module manufacturer.
